Energy stocks fall but remain positive for July

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Energy stocks fell back with the broad market on Friday after worst-than-expected figures on U.S. gross domestic product knocked the air out of equities. The NYSE Arca Oil Index fell 0.9% to 969. The NYSE Arca Natural Gas Index dropped 1% to 512. The Philadelphia Oil Service Index subtracted 1.8% to 179. Chevron fell 1.2% to $75.14 after its second quarter earnings beat expectations. American Electric Power subtracted 1.2% to $35.68. First Solar dropped 4% to $130. The NYSE Arca Oil Index remains in positive territory for July, however, with a gain of nearly 10%...
